Fire

We live within a landscape that depends on wildfire, and it plays an important role in the overall management and health of Coconino National Forest. Healthy forests are those which have frequent low-intensity fires or prescribed burns that help the forest become fire-resistant, which in turn creates safer conditions for communities, residents, and firefighters in the event of an unplanned fire.

From fire restrictions to prescribed burns and managed wildfires, there are many tools we use to help manage the health and resilience of the Coconino National Forest. Click below to learn more.
